Deacon Len spent a career as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era serving at three hospitals and on two ships. After discharge from the service, he worked as a medical-surgical assistant at the VA Hospitals in St. Louis. Received a BA in Speech Pathology with a minor in Special Education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Illinois then a MA in Communications Disorders at St. Louis University. Continued to work in the field in the VA Hospitals, a Head Injury Program, various hospitals, clinics and as a contract therapist at various rehabilitation companies.
He began Diaconate formation attending the Paul VI Institute and Kendrick Seminary and was ordained in 1997, and has served at St. Norbert, Holy Redeemer, St. Luke, St. George/ St. John Paul II , and Seven Holy Founders parishes.
