In September we celebrate our parishes’ multifaceted connections to the Vincentian charism, with a culmination on the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul (September 27). We are inspired by the mission of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Merillac in our care for our neighbors in need.
On Sunday, September 29, we celebrated the blessing and dedication of a new food pantry at Epiphany of Our Lord with the Most Reverend Mark S. Rivituso, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
(Download the Food Pantry Blessing Program here.)Our Societies at both parishes are “a network of friends, inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.” The societies provide a number of direct assistance services to those in need in our area, including:
- Food Pantry and Utility support - new food pantry at Epiphany built in 2024
- Blessing Bags with contact information for Catholic Charities’ resources
- A Thanksgiving Food Drive
- The Giving Tree (SJG) / Adopt-a-Family Programs
The Daughters of Charity have their novitiate program in the convent at St. James. The sisters run Radiant Light, a prayer group for women of both parishes. This inter-generational group helps develop holy friendships and discover the path God desires for these women. And, the altar tapestry at St. James the Greater features St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac.
Every Sunday we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist, learn about Christ's saving doctrine and practice charity through good works. Charity is important to us, as a way to love God above all things for His own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves.
